2024 Theater Summer Camp Production

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.

Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about is all about courage and self-discovery.

Painting for Kids Summer Camp: July 8 - July 12

Children ages 7-11 will be introduced to a whole new set of artists this week, focusing on influential modern and contemporary artists, and create their own paintings and projects based on the styles of these incredible artists. Students will also be provided a notebook and examples of work, so that they may record notes, and ideas to help them learn more about these art dynamos, and log their own creative ideas! (Age 6 welcome, but very light writing involved)

We are so thrilled to be hosted by the Pascagoula-Gautier school district again, and this year for James and the Giant Peach!!! Students aged 7-14 will learn the ins and outs of live, stage performance with professional lighting and sound. We embrace a nurturing and supportive approach where all campers have an active on-stage role in the show, although we do welcome backstage campers who want to learn the ins and outs of costuming, set design, sound, etc - just please note that in your registration. This camp is always a highlight of the summer for our young patrons AND their parents. Carpooling from Ocean Springs will be available!

Abstract Painting Camp for Tweens and Teens: 3 - day mini camp June 24-June 26

In this three day mini course, students ages 11-15 will discuss both composition and color while learning a variety of techniques to produce their own abstract acrylic and mixed media work. Perfect for students wanting to use their creative freedom to create an original piece of art.  Instructor will provide all supplies as well as Bristol paper to work on, but students may bring their own canvas if desired.

Art In Nature Summer Camp: June 17 - June 21

Students aged 7-11 will spend the week with Ms. Carmen focusing on integrating the natural world into their artwork. They will gather objects from the trails to use as drawing and painting tools, create eco prints using natural pigments from leaves and fruits, make handmade paper, and hike the nature trails, and keep a sketchbook inspired by the world around us. A fantastic (and fun!)  way to integrate  the local flora and fauna into art education.

Lego Robotics Summer Camp: June 27 - July 1

This week-long camp for ages 10-12 is all about teamwork building, creative problem solving, Legos, and FUN!! This is a hands-on learning experience focused on basic building and programming skills using Legos. Campers will: brainstorm tasks that a small robot could perform, build the tasks using Legos, build Lego attachments for the robot, code the robot to perform the tasks, and communicate what they have done to parents/guests in a showcase on Friday.

This week-long camp for ages 7-9 is a hands-on learning experience of the foundations in STEM concepts focusing on Motion, Structure, Substance, and Energy. Kids will: learn about basic principles driving STEM learning, do simple experiments, build models, work together on basic communication and teamwork skills, do team-building exercises, and learn to communicate what they have discovered. This will allow kids to build their teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills all while having FUN!!

The end of summer is here, and school is about to begin. We want our littles to be ready to enter the new school year confident and with a new skill in hand to share with their friends and family. Chef Stephanie and Chef Michael Paoletti are inviting kids entering Kindergarten up to those who just finished Second Grade (5 years to 8 years old) for a full week of culinary camp. As Junior Chefs we will learn how to make some classic family favorites, as well as an accompanying sweet item! Kids will come home at the end of the week with recipes to keep, a homemade lunch to share with loved ones, and basic kitchen knowledge.

Youngins’ Puppets Summer Camp: July 12th - July 15th

For campers ages 4-6. Keeping a young one’s interest is difficult. In this mini camp for youngins, there will be a variety of projects to keep their brain + creativity bustling. The main project will be a marionette made from cereal boxes and paper mache. They will also be doing molded self portraits with toilet paper rolls, alongside tie dying and other small projects. Your youngin will go home with quite a few pieces at the end of camp!

Did you know Americans consume more than 300 million sandwiches a day?! Sandwiches are a staple in every household around the country because of its portability and ability to be different each and every time. Your Jr. Chefs ages 7-14 will learn about the history of the most popular American sandwiches, as well as creating the condiments for each sandwich such as homemade mustard, mayonnaise, and olive salad.

Breakfast pastries date back to the early years of European baking and have made their cultural impact here in the United States. Your Jr. Chefs ages 7-14 will be learning about the history of many of the popular breakfast pastries found today, as well as different techniques such as deep frying, baking, and dough making.

Teens ages 14-16. Posing interests with simmered healing, Poetry + Meditation can be a small hub to educate, learn, and grow with each other. In this mini camp geared towards teenagers, they will be focusing on experimental poetry and deepening an understanding with marrying creativity to paper. Campers will go over classic + traditional poetry types as well. They will tap into meditative tools in an attempt to dive even deeper into thee connection to pen and paper. All supplies will be provided - bring only an open mind and an eagerness to dive deep.

Throughout the duration of the week, the Jr. Chefs aged 7-14 will learn the basic methods of baking and confections including types of cookies, candies, and chocolate confections. The classics will be learned such as chocolate chip cookies and turtles. The Jr. Chefs will learn how to caramelize sugar and how to make a proper chocolate ganache.

Campers aged 7-14 will learn the history behind eggs and how they are in every food culture across the globe. The Jr. Chefs will learn basic knife skills, how to properly cook all kinds of eggs, as well as breakfast foods such as quiche, biscuits, and deviled eggs.
